Secrets to Live Long and Healthy

Living a healthy life is more important than how long you live. If you live well into your 80’s and are constantly ill, it hampers the quality of your life and disturbs you mentally. The key to being healthy when you are older is to live slowly when you are younger. When we are in our 20’s we generally tend to live a fast paced life, eat junk foods, consume alcohol and do not sleep for the right amount of hours. All these lifestyle habits take their toll on our body later on.

In order to live a healthy life we need to make the right lifestyle choices from the beginning. This helps our bodies and minds when we grow older. Start with getting the right amount of sleep. It is very important as it is the time that your body rejuvenates and revitalizes itself for the next day. Most research states that your body needs a minimum of 5 hours of sleep daily, but you must try and get as much rest as possible. Depending on your work and social life your body will signal you as to the number of hours that it requires to rest.

You must also make sure that you eat a healthy diet. Junk foods are quick options and they taste extremely delicious. The point is that you pay the price for it later in life. These foods are high in fats and low in nutrition. They are normally the kinds that add calories to your daily diet but do nothing for your nutrition; hence you add more pounds. This takes a toll on your health as it can lead to blocked arteries and high blood pressure. Make sure that you carry lunch with you to work so that you are not tempted to eat any sort of fast food. Avoid caffeine in high volumes. Drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices in order to maintain your health.

The next thing that you need to do is exercise. It is very important for your body and mind. When you exercise you release toxins from your body. It is also a way of controlling stress and anxiety.
