Wouldn’t we all like it if we didn’t wrinkle or gray with age. How great would it be if the choice to color our hair was more of a fashion statement rather than a means to hide the few silver strands? Unfortunately it is not so, and though most women are attracted to men with salt n pepper hair, the same doesn’t apply when the tables are turned. Also, not all men look good with silver strands.
Fortunately, today there are loads of brands offering you so many ‘do-it yourself’ color treatments, but as easy as they are, it is still time consuming. Graying with age is a natural process and though it cannot be avoided, trying a few of the things listed below might help you delay the process.
Practicing Yoga
Yoga has been practiced in India for thousands of years and has recently gained popularity all over the world. There are various asanas or yoga poses which when practiced regularly, can over a period of time heal you and prove extremely beneficial. One such asana is the head stand or the shirsh asana. Please bear in mind that this needs to always to be practiced under the supervision of a trained yoga teacher. This helps increase the blood flow to your head and has positive effects not only on gray hair but also on overall health. So, go ahead and look out for gyms in your area which offer yoga classes.
Soy protein
One of the many reasons which cause graying is a diet poor in protein. Soy products are an excellent source of healthy protein which enhances the overall health of your hair. Try sipping on soy milk or stir-fry some tofu for dinner twice or thrice a week.
Natural oils
Applying oil on your scalp is a practice which also promotes hair growth and helps maintain a healthy scalp. Almond oil or olive oil is excellent for hair. Try heating a tea spoonful of oil in the microwave for about 10 seconds and massage into the scalp with your fingertips using gentle circular motion. Make sure the oil is warm and not hot. Leave it in for 20 to 30 mins and shampoo off. Do this once a week and you will see the benefits. The gentle massage helps stimulate the roots and calms the scalp from intense blow drying, ironing and any other hair treatments which cause hair damage.
