There are several remedies for sore throat that you find in your home. As painful it may be the cure is simple however you must take precautions not to continue home treatments if they do not sooth your throat within 48 hours. Common household items like water, honey, ginger, salt, lemon and vinegar in the right concoction helps to soothe your throat. Water tends to be the constant base inmost of the remedies.

-Drinking warm water instead of cold or room temperature water soothes your throat.

-Warm water mixed with salt soothes the throat if gargled with on an hourly basis. Some theories state that drinking the warm water mixture helps relieve the pain faster. But consuming salt in large quantities is harmful to your kidney so one must work with precision on this one. However, the iodine in the salt reduces the stress on your throat. If you use baking soda instead of salt, it will cure your throat as well as cure bleeding gums and ulcers.

-A mixture of 1 spoon of honey and crushed ginger provides instant relief.

-A mixture of sugar, water and onions can prove to be a boon. The sugar will draw out the infection while the onions will help to cleanse the throat and open up the blocked passage.

-A few drops of honey in hot tea is soothing to all your senses. This is a popular and simple yet effective home remedy. Honey with a hint of lemon juice and warm water is equally effective.

-Chamomile tea is a good remedy as well. Boil the chamomile in the tea and drink it as hot as you can withstand.

-Several mint candies that are available in stores help to cure. For immediate relief dissolve these in hot water. You may choose to gargle with the mixture or drink it. Peppermint and mint candies can be used in such a manner.
