Simple Tips That Help to Reduce and Prevent Dandruff

Dandruff is a result of a dry scalp and poor hygiene. A few changes in your diet and your lifestyle and hygiene will help to improve the condition of your hair. It is a condition where the flakes of skin fall off and this tends to cause a lot of embarrassment. There is no cure for dandruff; however you can help to control the condition with a few effective home remedies.

You need to start off with drinking plenty of water to keep your body well hydrated. If your skin is hydrated; you lower the risk of dry scalp and hence reduce the possibility of dandruff.

Where your diet is concerned; you must eat a well balanced diet that is full of vitamins and minerals. Add foods that have natural sulfur to your diet. Cabbages, eggs and onions are such foods. Some of the foods that increase the dandruff are chocolates and shell fish. Adding garlic to your meals are a good idea to reduce the dandruff.

Remedies and treatments

Heat oil and add a few mint leaves to the oil. You can use almond or olive oil; though coconut oil tends to be the most effective for any hair care treatments. Let the oil boil and then filter it and keep it in a bottle and place it in the sun and keep it for about 15 days. Use this soil to massage your scalp daily before your bath.

Tea tree oil is the most effective remedy for dandruff treatments. Use the oil on your scalp in small amounts, massage and keep it over night. You will see a drastic change in the dandruff levels and flakiness within a few uses.

After washing your hair, use lemon juice for the final rinse. The juice stays on the scalp and helps to nourish it and reduces the flakes. You can also rub the skin of the lemon on your scalp once a week to get rid of the flakes. Wash it off with warm water and shampoo.
