Simple Tips to Prevent Over Eating

May 30, 2009

There are times when you are desperately trying to loose weight for weeks and no matter what you arty you seem to be tipping the scales the wrong way. The ideal way in this case would be to control your portion sizes. Along with healthy eating habits and exercise the amount of food you consume will help you to shed the pounds naturally. Some time you over eat and you are not aware of it. This happens when you are eating in front of the television or when catching up with old friends.

There are 3 simple tips to get you out of your dilemma.

The first thing you can do is to avoid buying food in large sizes. Individual sizes will help you to cut down on the amount you eat. Sure, a large bag of chips is less expensive compared to a small bag, but you must also consider the possibility of the emotional trauma of over eating. If you are eating in front of the television then empty a small amount into a bowl to prevent you from binging.

When eating out always order the small size of a drink or fries; by doing so you end up sipping on your drink longer and consume lesser calories at the same time.

Never order more than one entree. If you are with family and friends then order a few rounds and then wait till you complete the round till you start ordering up. Seeing a huge amount of food can be over whelming and may lead to binging. Thus it is best to keep orders small and fill up as you go along. Sharing your appetizer or entrée with someone else at the table is a good idea. It helps you reduce the portions of your servings. Do not feel shy to cut short your meal even if you are half way through it and you are feeling like you are about to burst.
