Skin Care Through Essential Oils

Various techniques are available in markets today for skin care. But it is difficult to know whether they are safe or not. You can go to beauty parlors for expensive beauty therapies. But you should remember that there are various methods and therapies which you can use at your home only. These therapies are inexpensive and without harmful effects. Sometimes following basic beauty regime daily is just enough to get glowing skin. Aromatherapy, when added to this regime makes one of the best skin care therapies.

Cleansing, toning and moisturizing are three important steps to be followed daily. The skin care should always be done according to one’s own skin type. Aromatherapy is available for all skin types. Essential oils can be used as cleansers and moisturizers. Aromatherapy oils can be added to any regular lotion, cleanser or moisturizer to enhance its effects. Different oils are suitable for different skin types.

Cleansing can be done by adding two drops of essential oil per 100 ml of cleanser. For dry skin, camomile, geranium, rose, ylang-ylang oils are beneficial. These oils help in cleansing dry face without removing the body oils. Chapped and cracked skin can be healed by using benzoin and camomile while cleansing face.

Use camomile, neroli, jasmine and rose oils for hypersensitive skin. Problem of broken capillaries can be reduced by neroli, rose, lemon and peppermint oils. Lavender and geranium oils are good for combination skin. Add lavender, rose or neroli, to rosewater or orange flower water for cleansing normal skin. To cleanse oil skin, add lemon, lavender, bergamot, juniper or ylang-ylang to witch hazel.

Moisturizing can be done by adding two drops of essential oils per 100 ml of either day or night creams. Lavender, basil, camomile and lemon oil have ability to remove excess oil from the skin. These oils can be added in any day or night creams to maintain the oil balance of oily skin.

For acne reduction, lemongrass, bergamot and lavender oils can be used. Add rose, geranium or neroli oil in day creams or frankincense, jasmine, rose and ylang-ylang oils in night creams for dry skin. For hyper-sensitive skin, add rose, geranium or neroli oil in day creams. Neroli, jasmine, rose, and camomile can be added in the night creams. Adding lavender and rose oils to day and night creams is good for care of normal skin. Aromatherapy enhances the mood of the people by making skin smooth and supple.
