With the onset of summer comes a joy of basing in the sun, visits to the beach and many fun activities. However it is also the time to take care of your skin as exposure to the harsh rays of the sun can cause havoc on your skin. Remember, most people take care of only their facial skin or exposed skin but you must ensure that you take care of the skin all over your body as over exposure to the sun may burn you.

Always wear sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun, especially in summer. Opt for an aloe based sunscreen as it is natural and cooling. Creams are known to be more effective than gels. Reapply sunscreen very 3 hours. If you are at the beach use a water proof sunscreen. This is the season to keep makeup minimal.

Always keep your skin well hydrated. Drinking plenty of water and fresh fruit juices can work miracles for your skin. Keep a bottle of water handy at all times. Take several sips every few minutes or so. Stay clear of citrus fruit juices as they tend to make you feel thirsty. Don’t binge on salts in your juices.

Maintain your diet. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet. Vegetables like cabbage and lettuce are cooling. Seasonal fruits like mangoes, pears, watermelons and grapes are a great way to enhance your water intake.

If you are a fan of milk go ahead and binge. Spice it up with seasonal fruits and make smoothies or shakes. Rose water or syrup added to a glass of milk with a few crushed ice cubes can cool you down and put a bounce in your step.

If you have oily or combination skin, this is the season you need to take extra care. Wash your face regularly to eliminate the oil from your face. Rub ice cubes all over your face and neck to cool your skin and reduce the production of oil. Use a face pack of ground chickpea mixed with yogurt. Wash of with cool milk.

This is the season where your wardrobe is minimal and your maintenance is inversely proportionate.
