Rectal itching is caused by irritation of the skin around the anal region. Moisture, prolonged periods of sitting and pressure increases the intensity of the itching. The itching is uncontrollable and leads to severe discomfort and embarrassment.
Itching can cause further damage to your skin. The discomfort has been linked to foods like chocolate, tomatoes, excess spice and oily foods. An over dose of Vitamin C can lead to the irritation as well. In woman it may be caused by vaginal discharge or vaginal infection.
Remedies to help to cure the problem
Petroleum jelly is known to be an effective cure for this issue. If the skin on the area is extremely dry then there is a possibility that the dry skin is causing the itching and discomfort. Using Vaseline or any such non perfumed moisturizer on the area will help to reduce the irritation and the itching.
If the irritation is caused by moisture; then use talcum powder on the area. Apply every time you visit the toilet. The powder will help to dry the moisture and helps to avoid irritation.
For dry skin you can try and massage the area with fresh cream before your bath.
Avoid bathing in very hot water. Warm or cold baths are preferred to avoid the irritation.
Grind the peel of an orange or a lemon and mix a few drops of rose water to form a paste. Apply this on the affected area for a few minutes before your bath and wash it off with warm water. Do not apply soap on the area. Doing this for 4 weeks will help to cure the infection.
Soak your body in warm water at bath time. The water will increase the circulation, relieve any pain that is caused by the infection and cleanses the area as well. Avoid using bath salts and scrubs in your water as they may have a negative reaction on your delicate skin.
