Teenage Acne: What to Do?

Growing up as a child some of my favorite foods were chocolates, burgers and fries. I indulged in the most delicious malt shakes and deep fried goodies only to see the impact of this indulgence in my teen years. Whilst all my friends sported clean scrubbed faces, I had a frying pan for a face that was oily for most part of my day. The acne and pimples I sported would put the moon rocks to shame. I did feel the urge to play connect the dots on my own face but that was only when I was not picking at it. And that is the greatest mistake I’ve made.

Teen acne is a result of the food you eat and the growth spur that you are going through. While it stays on for the years that you cherish the most, it will clear up as you grow up. Trust me! A few things you can try out to reduce the occurrence of pimples, zits and acne is to watch your diet. Drink lots of water. 6 to 8 glasses a day didn’t harm anyone. Make sure that you drink a lot of juices as well, and no not the fizzy drinks or ones that are not natural. Pure fruit juices do the trick.

Try washing your face regularly and don’t clog your pores all the time. It’s nice to have makeup on and feel good but do so only if the occasion asks for it. If you do need to wear makeup, choose the products that suit your skin type and always make sure that you are not using products that have expired or have been on your shelf for more than 18 months. Never share your makeup bag with anyone no matter how close you may be. Germs are transferred from one individual to another via products like lipsticks, foundation sponges and brushes.

Using a face scrub twice a week followed by steam treatment helps to clean your skin. Go to a professional to get a face massage once or twice a month.

One of the most important things is to maintain hygiene.
