The Advantages and Disadvantages of Circuit Training
September 21, 2009
There are plenty of ways to train and exercise and people have their own individual preferences. It is therefore difficult to say that one form of exercise is better than another as each exercise routine targets and brings about different results. Every person’s body is different and their body reacts differently to the same exercise. Due to this fact some people tend to lose weight faster when they exercise while others take a longer period of time to get the same results even though they perform the same set of exercises.
Apart from physical differences, lifestyle also affects the way one responds to exercising. There are two popular workout programs that most people stick to when they start exercising. Though both of them are good there are some advantages and disadvantages that they have over each other. These two forms or workout programs are circuit training and basic weight training.
A circuit training workout would involve various exercises, or sets of exercises being performed in succession at different exercise stations. The basic goal of a circuit training workout is to try and get the heart rate to speed up as quickly as possible and maintain it at a constant level while exercising different groups of muscles. The benefit of this type of a training routine is that it allows a person to train the entire body within a predetermined span of time. What is achieved through this workout regime is that more calories are burned and all the muscles are trained on a regular basis. This workout pattern would also help a person tone up their body quickly and help their natural muscles to develop.
The other form of training would be the basic weight training workout. Weight training unlike circuit training is a workout routine which would help a person bulk up or help them sculpt their body. It is a more rigid training routine and many different variations come into play during the course of this training routine. Typically a person who would like to add mass to specific muscle groups would choose those muscle groups and exercise only those muscle groups the entire day. What this workout routine does is that it tires the muscles out and breaks them down till they don’t work anymore. After the workout when the muscles start resting and healing they recover and become stronger and bigger for upcoming workouts.
