The Health Benefits of Eating Thai Food

Thai food seems to be one of the most popular cuisines around the globe these days. This is not a surprise given the fact that Thai food mostly comprises of vegetables and whole grain rice and noodles.

Also the fact that the food is mostly cooked in olive oil and with maximum care. But the secret behind the delicious taste and flavor of the food is the blend of healthy and aromatic spices and herbs that is used in the preparation of the food.

Some of the most common and respected herbs are lemon grass, coconut milk, turmeric, chilies and coriander. Each of these herbs has their own healing properties and thus they benefit the body and mind.

One of the commonly used herbs is galangal. This herb is commonly known for its anti inflammatory properties and thus is acts as an aid to digestion. Adding the herb to your food preparation prevents acidity and gas build up in the stomach and prevents uneasiness after eating a healthy meal. Chiles are used in most food preparation and they are good for the body in more ways than you can imagine.

Beyond adding spice to the food it helps to clear sinuses. It is also helpful in increasing insulin levels and hence diabetics benefit from adding these red and green wonders to their diet. Another common herb used in most Thai cuisines is lemon grass. The aromatic herb is in most cases arouses the senses. This way it ensures that it takes care of any congestion as well. In addition to this lemon grass also acts as an aid for digestive related disorders, stomach aches and headaches.

It is also good for those who suffer from chronic joints pain and arthritis. One of the most common ingredients of Thai food is coconut milk. The milk is used to boost immunity and to lower blood cholesterol levels. It also prevents premature aging.

Thus you are now aware of the fact that Thai food can offer your body an array of benefits; however you must keep in mind that eating too many chilies can lead to and stomach upset and ulcers.
