The Importance of Anti Oxidants in your Diet

In order to be healthy you need to maintain a well balanced diet. This means that you need to eat foods that offer your body vitamins, minerals as well as anti oxidants. This type of a diet will promote your health and keep all your cells and organs in prime condition. A healthy diet also keeps illnesses and diseases at bay. A diet that is high in anti oxidants will keep your healthy and youthful. They prevent cell breakdown and damage to the cells thereby keeping wrinkles and lines away from your face.In order to increase the anti oxidants in your body you need to eat a diet that is rich in fresh foods. Processed foods contain a very low amount of anti oxidants and hence one must avoid eating processed foods. Half your daily consumption must be in the raw form. Increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables as meats cannot be eaten raw. Eat a handful of nuts daily. They are good sources of anti oxidants and they offer the body a variety of other vitamins.

Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli and corn are healthy sources of antioxidants. Eat a salad for lunch daily in order to increase the amount of raw foods and anti oxidants in your diet. You also need to start the day with a fresh fruit smoothie. Soy milk is a good source of anti oxidants so try swapping cow milk for soy. Blueberries are extremely rich in anti oxidants so you my want to consider a smoothie with blueberries to start your day.

If you eat a salad daily then ensure that you add vinegar and oil to the salad instead of unhealthy salad dressings. Consider using grape seed oil as it is a healthy source of anti oxidants.

Breads and cereals that are made from whole grain are a better option than those made from processed grains.

Sprinkle pumpkin seeds on your salads, sandwiches and casseroles in order to increase the health quotient of your food.

Do not attempt to make several changes in your diet at the same time. This may have a negative impact on your health. Set a goal for yourself and follow the path that you create for yourself in order to increase your consumption of anti oxidants. You will notice an improvement in your health as you progress with your new diet plan.
