Candidiasis is also commonly known as Thrush, however there are various forms of Candidiasis. It is a fungal infection that appears in the throat and the mouth. Some of its symptoms are dryness of the throat, white patches on the tongue, tongue soreness, cracked corners of the mouth and dryness of the mouth. This infection can cause a lot of pain and makes it difficult for a person suffering from it to be able to drink anything or eat anything. Sometimes it is so severe that it leads to dehydration. There are a few simple home remedies and treatments that can be used to help relieve this condition.
Garlic contains allicin as one of its ingredients. Allicin has antiviral agents as well as antibacterial and antifungal properties. If you suffer from this condition then you should have a clove of garlic everyday. If your not comfortable eating a clove of garlic then you could opt for garlic capsules which are available as an over the counter medication and can be taken as a supplement for a clove of garlic. Ensure that the dosage is at least 4000 to 5000 microgram for it to be effective.
Oral thrush can also be treated with tea tree oil which has antifungal properties. It could be used as a mouthwash and is easy to prepare at home. Tea tree oil is toxic and care should be taken to ensure that you don’t swallow any while rinsing your mouth. The mouth wash can be prepared by mixing 10 drops of tea tree oil in a cup of warm water. Remember to rinse the mouth and avoid gargling with this mixture. Due to the toxicity of tea tree oil it is recommended that you discuss this with your doctor before you adopt this remedy. Pau d’arco bark tea can also be used as a mouth wash and can be prepared by brewing 2 tablespoons of pau d’arco bark in 250 ml of water. This has antifungal properties and the mouth should be rinsed 3-6 times a day with this mixture.
Probiotics which can be obtained from curds, yogurt, milk, onions, honey, bananas, garlic, tomatoes and wheat. It helps to fight the Candida bacteria and increases the levels of good bacteria in the system.
