The Problem Of Dry Skin During Winter
December 24, 2008
A common problem which almost everybody faces during winter is the problem of dry skin. As the temperature goes down during winter, the environmental humidity deceases and this leads to the dryness of the skin. The problem of dry skin is faced by people of all ages.
Due to dryness of the skin the fine lines in the skin become more visible, skin becomes rougher. The roughness of the skin makes it look dull and blistering. In some cases tine fracture lines are also visible in the skin due to winter dryness. Itching is a common symptom as a result of dry skin and this itching can disturb our daily activities. Moreover dry skin spoils our overall look. A regular rubbing due to itching makes the skin thick and due to this increased thickness cracks are developed in the affected areas.
If you find that your skin is drier than normal and you experience the problem of itching, cracks and pain, you are advised to consult a dermatologist for a proper treatment of the dryness. Sometime severe dry skin is also due to some genetic diseases. Hormonal imbalance, eating habits, unhealthy life style etc are also the factors responsible for dryness of the skin during winter. Sometimes infection or some sort of allergy can also lead to the problem of dry skin.
We know that skin is the largest organ of our body and it gives a protection from the external effects to all other organs of our body. Therefore, it is always very important to know about skin problems and their solutions. Dry skin is the result of deficiency of water in our body. A well hydrated body is at a lower risk of getting skin problems. Hence, it is good to drink water in sufficient amount. We can use moisturizers and lotions to protect skin from external effects.
As far as the care of dryness of skin is concern, first we should know the reason for the dryness and then we can find a solution for that. Applying water to the skin can give a temporary solution to the dryness but it has been found that applying water again and again to the skin actually worsen the dryness and makes the problem more difficult because applying water again and again removes the oily protective layer of the skin. Washing skin with hot soapy water reflects the same results.
Applying moisturizers after washing skin is helpful in avoiding dryness. The oil present in these moisturizers traps the water and avoids the dryness of the skin and skin becomes smoother less prone to cracks and itching.

My husband has the driest of skin, he has tried nearly everything on the market and nothing has worked to help repair his dry skin.
I finally bought the “Pure Aloe Face Treatment” from Made from Earth, because I myself like some of their other products and thought why not, let’s try it. Well, he scoffed when I handed it to him, but eventually tried it, the difference was immediate. He Loves it… We no longer go anywhere without “the Cream”!!
Its also fragrence free which he likes. . .
