The Problem Of Oily Skin

December 11, 2008

Teenagers usually have oily skin. Hormonal imbalance is responsible for this type of skin. Oil secretion increases during teen age, pregnancy and at the time of menopause. Cosmetics and contraceptive pills also increase oil secretion. Hot weather and humidity are also responsible for increased oil secretion.

Oily skin is identified by enlarged and shine pores. Due to high sebum level, skin is more prone to acne. Oily skin attracts more dust and dirt. As the age increases sebum level reduces makes the skin less oily. People with oily skin may notice that probability of development of blackheads around the nose is more in them.

There are many other problems like oily skin is more prone to eczema, fungal infections and coarse pores. Oily skin needs proper cleansing. A person should wash the face with Luke warm water and avoid the use of harsh soap. Cleansing lotion with antibacterial properties can also be useful for oily skin. Cleansing of face 4 to 5 times is necessary in a day.

Cleanser can be in gel, lotion, milk and liquids. Cotton soaked with un-boiled milk is proving to be a good cleanser. Correct way to apply cleanser is in outward and upward motion.  Apply egg white mix with yogurt and Fullers earth on face for sometime and wash it with clear water when it dries. Apply mixture of sandalwood powder, oatmeal, orange peel powder on face and rinse it by Luke warm water, this should be used alternate days. Mix cucumber juice, tomato pulp, and yogurt apply it for 20 minutes on the face and wash it water.

Cabbage or cucumber juice and rose water can prove to be an excellent toner. Lemon juice with vinegar in water is also a good toner. Fatty food and fried food should be avoided. Pepper and ginger should be included in the diet. Regular exercise is necessary. Fresh fruit and green vegetables are good for oily skin. Too much of soft drinks, tea, coffee and chocolates should be avoided. Consume less sugar and cheese in food. Applying cucumber juice with lemon juice for 30 minutes is also helpful. Moisturizer should be oil free.
