During winter most children develop a cough and a cold. Some take longer to heal and in some case there is a distinct hissing sound at the end of the cough. This is known as whooping cough. This disease lasts for several weeks and some of the common symptoms are bleeding from the nose and pink eyes. The disease is very infectious and spreads by mere exposure to the person.

Home remedies to cure whopping cough

Garlic is known to be one of the most effective remedies for whopping cough. In order to benefit from this simply juice a few pods of garlic and store them. Drink about a spoon or two of the juice daily and you will experience relief immediately.

Ginger is known to be effective as well. Simply mix the paste or juice of ginger with a spoon of honey and have this mix about 3 times a day for relief and cure from the cough. Another way to benefit from the ginger is to mix 5 drops of ginger juice with a spoon of almond oil and the juice of a white onion. Have this mixture thrice daily for about 15 days and you will experience relief.

Eucalyptus oils are also extremely effective. Simply rub the oil on the child’s neck, throat, back, palms of the hands, soles of the feet and the stomach. Cover the child well at night and let the child breathe in the fumes of the oil.

If your child is suffering from whopping cough then in the beginning stages she must be kept on a fruit diet. Orange juice and water for the first few days will give relief to the burning sensation in the throat and reduce bleeding from the nose. During this stage the child must be bathed in water with Epsom salts diluted in it. You must also protect the child from severe temperatures like extreme cold or heat.
