Tips to Clean your Dentures Using Normal Household Products

May 22, 2009

If you wear dentures then most of you troubles are behind you. For those with an entire mouth of dentures; you need not have a worry as cavities, root canals and toothaches are no more a stressor for you. You must however still maintain good oral hygiene as you did when you had your pearly whites to take care of.

Massaging your gums daily and using a mouth wash will help to get rid of bacteria, take care of bad breathe and bleeding gums. You also need to care for your dentures. While there are several products available to take care of your dentures; there are several items that you will find in and around your house that will help to clean and maintain them.

As you did with your teeth, you must wash or rinse your dentures after every meal to get rid of food particles that may get stuck onto them. To get rid of the food you can immerse the dentures in a cup of warm water with a spoon of vinegar or baking powder. Simply let it rinse itself out.

Keep a soft bristled brush with you at all times. A baby brush is your best choice as it is soft and will not cause harm to the dentures.

You must clean them with mild soap or brush with toothpaste, care must be taken to focus on the upper and lower portions.

You must soak the dentures in water at night. This removes all the germs and bacteria that stay on after your meals and drinks. This also helps keep them moist. If you are not wearing your dentures then they must be kept in water as dry dentures have a higher possibility of cracking.

Massage your mouth with warm coconut oil before you wear your dentures. This helps to keep the circulation in your mouth constant as well as helps the dentures to stay in place.
