Tips to Ease Menstrual Cramps
I remember cursing and swearing every month of the year at the onset of my periods. The pain was unbearable and the thought of it being constant for the next few days was even more frustrating. The intensity of the pain may vary from woman to woman, but there is one thing for sure, we all suffer from it. That’s the universal truth. One may wonder how some women are so positive during this time and how they are able to conceal the pain, well; there are a few tips for everyone to be able to do the same.
During this period you must increase your intake of dairy products. For few days of the month milk, buttermilk and yogurt need to be your best friend.
This is also a good time to become a vegetarian as meat is heavier to digest and may cause added uneasiness. That doesn’t mean to say that you need to reduce the amount of food you eat. The point is that you need to eat the required amount of nutrients that you body demands; just eat food that is easier to digest. Green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, spinach are healthy options for these days. Steamed or boiled rather than fried food is a healthy choice.
A hot bath helps to reduce body ache. If the pains persist then use a hot water compression at night.
Reduce your intake of caffeine during this week. Coffees, tea, colas that have caffeine are not a wise choice as they make you acidic.
You need to be active, even more than you normally are. The more you sit around the worse you will feel. During these days keep yourself busy helps to distract your attention towards other tasks rather than your health.
Never take any form of pain killers as they will cause dependence and you are at risk of prolonged periods or other forms of side effects.
