Our lifestyle and the number of activities that we pack into our schedule daily make our life so utterly hectic that it leaves us exhausted and we wish to fall asleep the moment we get into bed. Unfortunately, for some this may not be possible. In most cases it takes about 15 minutes to fall asleep once you get into bed; however for those suffering from sleep disorders it could take longer and in severe case it takes a few hours and several attempts at trying to fall asleep go in vain. Keep in mind that if you suffer from a sleep disorder then tossing and turning in your bed will not help you to fall asleep; neither does closing your eyes help. You need to get out of bed and take some action.
Exercising after dinner and just before bed time is a great way to get your body exhausted. After your exercise routine you can have a hot bath or shower and get into bed. This may help to fall asleep.
You also need to have a routine before you go to bed and have a fixed time to sleep. This enables your body to start getting ready for a long period of rest. A routine before bedtime could include drinking a cup of warm milk, reading a book to relax and unwind or just taking a walk around the neighborhood. Never use television as a medium to fall asleep.
Music is a great way to get your body to rest and relax. Listen to music that is rhythmic and slow rather than any fast music that will get your senses excited. When you are listening to music then you must focus on it and clear your mind and forget about the rest of the troubles of the day. You must keep a player in your room to help to relax and unwind every night.
Use aromatherapy to help to relax your senses and to reduce stress. This will ensure that you sleep well. A diffuser with lavender oil in your room or aromatic candles will help to ensure that you rest well at night.
