Everyone lays emphasis on medications that help to prevent an illness or remedies that help you to cure an illness but there is very little importance given to the recovery period. After you have been cured from an illness you go through a period of recovery. This is an extremely important time as there is a huge possibility of a relapse. It is vital that you take care of yourself at this point in time in order to prevent a relapse. By merely resting you are not doing your body a favor you need to take a few precautions to ensure that you are not causing harm to your body.
If you wake up feeling low on energy or tired then you need to rest. This is your body’s way of telling you that it is not yet ready to resume its daily activities. If you are working or are in school you will need to stay away for a few more days. Denying your body rest will worsen your condition and this will hamper your recovery.
You need to keep your body well hydrated during recovery periods. Drink plenty of water in order to maintain your hydration levels. Water is the best form of hydration as it helps to flush out toxins from your body. You could also drink orange juice. Along with hydrating your body it also gives your body a boost of Vitamin C. If you are recovering from fever then you must drink green tea. The tea offers your body anti oxidants that help to speed up the recovery process as well as keep your hydration levels high.
Do not eat heavy meals when you are hungry. A bowl of soup with a few bread sticks is a very good meal option. Tomato soup is very health and it will offer your body a healthy portion of fiber which is extremely essential when you are on the road to recovery. Avoid eating raw vegetables when you are recovering from any illness. Boiled or steamed food is a good option. You must also have plenty of fruits. Citrus fruits will offer you a load of essential vitamins and minerals that your body requires.
Make sure that you do not overeat immediately after you have recovered from an illness as your stomach is still weak and you could have an adverse reaction to overeating or eating a heavy meal. Avoid any foods that are fried or cooked in oil.
