Fats have the highest number of calories that they contribute to the body. In about a gram of fat there are about 9-10 calories therefore it is the simplest nutrient which contributes to weight gain. There are however a few tips which one could follow to help cut the fat out of their diet and help improve their overall health.

If you are a non vegetarian try eating meats that are low in fat content. Fish , turkey, chicken and lean cuts of meat should be consumed. Avoid eating cuts with lots of fat on them and try to avoid pork. Avoid pre processed meats and cold cuts. Dairy products like milk, cheese etc should be avoided though you could alternatively go in for low fat and then to fat free milk or cheese. This would also help make the change feel natural as sometimes going fat free overnight doesn’t agree with the body and over the next couple of days you might tend not to stick with your fat free diet. You could opt for sour cream or cream cheese or cottage cheese as an alternative to regular cheese.

Avoid consuming food that has been cooked in a lot of oil. Avoid eating fried foods like fries and potato chips. Instead go in for foods that are baked. There are also a few varieties of potato chips which are baked and you could use them as a substitute for your fried snack. Baking also uses lower quantities of oil.

Most importantly you need to avoid eating junk food as they normally contain enough of fat to keep you going for a few days. Analyze your cooking habits and ensure that your food is cooked with lesser amounts of oil or butter or cheese.

Exercise is a must to help burn the excess fat from your body. Brisk walking is a great way to burn that excess weight.
