Are you one of those people who wake up in the morning looking like you haven’t slept at all the previous night? Are you always tired although you have slept for 7 hours or more? Do you toss and turn in your bed all night? If you have answered yes to even one of these questions then you need to pay attention to the factors that are affecting your sleep. If you aren’t sleeping well then you are not being as productive as you have the potential for. Your body needs to rest and that is the reason why it slows down every night.
A few tricks that may help you sleep better would be keeping the room at a moderate temperature that is neither too hot nor too cold. If you live in a country that is moderately hot then air conditioning your bedroom to cool it down is a good idea and vice versa if you live in a colder climate. Try to use heavier curtains in your room in order to darken it. This is extremely important if you work in the opposite direction of the clock or if you work for extended periods without a break.
Drown out as much of the noise that you can. If you suffer from insomnia then sound proofing your bedroom would be a good investment. Eat a light meal before bedtime and make sure that you meal is eaten atleast 3 hours prior to bedtime in order to allow digestion. Avoid the consumption of caffeine and chocolates before bedtime. Nicotine doesn’t help your system either.
Set a bedtime for yourself. Draw a warm bath and soak yourself in the warm water before a bath. Jump into bed directly from the bathroom. The warm water relaxes your body and ensures a good night sleep.
Do not let pets sleep in the same room. They tend to interrupt your sleep at the slightest sound. If nothing else helps drink a warm glass of milk, calm your nerves and take a few deep breathes. Close your eyes and have a good night sleep.
Sweet dreams!
