Tips to Help You to Cope with Food Allergies
Food allergies can trigger certain reactions in your body that may range from extreme sneezing and coughing to rashes. In severe cases or if not attended to in time it can lead to swelling on the face, a heavy tongue or suffocation and convulsions. Severe allergic reactions are caused by eggs, fish, shell fish, dairy products, nuts, soy and peanuts. If you are already diagnosed with an allergy to these foods then you life is easier in comparison to ignorance to the triggers.
If you are already aware of your allergies then you must inform people around you about it and what medication to administer in case of an allergic reaction. It is best to add it to your work identity card or your profile.
If you are traveling to a country that does not speak the language that you do then have a pictorial description of the food that you are allergic to marked with a cross straight across it to show that it is bad for you.
When shopping for groceries always ready the label of the food that you are buying. Read the ingredients as well as the process used to make the foods. When eating at a restaurant inform the waiter of your allergies and ask him to request the chef to avoid using those ingredients in your food.
When you are traveling by flight; choose your meal option in advance and make sure that the flight attendants are aware of your allergies before hand in order to prevent any allergic reactions. Also keep them informed about any medication that they can offer you in the case of any allergic reactions.
Speak with your doctor about your options when it comes to medications. They may not help to get rid of the allergies but they may be useful in the cure of an allergy.
