By the time you are well into the afternoon you energy levels may be depleted. This may be either due to lack of nutrition or over eating at lunch time. While the prior will make you low on energy; the latter will make you lethargic especially if your lunch consisted of red meats and carbohydrates.

If you are feeling lethargic you must start of with washing your face followed by drinking several glasses of water or orange juice. Juice has a high amount of Vitamin C and helps to increase your energy levels within minutes. It is a good idea to load up on liquids as dehydration is one of the leading causes for lowered energy levels.

Take a brisk walk after lunch. It helps to increase your energy levels as you expose yourself to higher levels of oxygen. A 15 minute walk will charge you up for the rest of the day.

You must make wise lunch options. If you are at work or if you are a home maker and anticipate that an afternoon nap is out of the question then your best bet is to avoid eating a heavy lunch but to having a light snack like a salad or a sandwich. You may add a fruit shake or smoothie to lunch time, but keep it light and simple. Eat a fruit like banana that will increase your energy levels.

Spray some rose water on your face. The aromatic fragrance will make you alert in a few minutes. You can also use essential oils like rosemary or lavender in a diffuser in your office space to increase your levels of concentration.

Drink something that has a small amount of caffeine. Colas, sodas and chocolates are a good option. You must stay clear of teas and coffee as they have extremely high levels of caffeine. Ice tea is a good choice.
