Intense itching around the anal tissues that make you uncomfortable is known as an anal itch. The itch is so intense that you cannot resist the urge to scratch. Besides itching you may experience soreness and numbness in the area along with a burning sensation and lots of skin irritation in the area. In order to cure the itch you first need to diagnose what causes the irritation.

Common causes of an anal itch

If you have extremely dry skin then that may be one of the reasons for an itch in the area. The skin around your anus is extremely thin and delicate and thus dryness around the area may lead to irritation. On the other hand excess moisture can lead to the irritation too. If you are suffering from diarrhea then that could be one of the reasons. Washing the area frequently with harsh soaps can lead to discomfort. Over use of laxatives along with a few other medications can lead to the itching sensation. Chemical presence in foods and certain skin diseases like eczema are some of the common causes of the itching and burning sensation.

Natural remedies

In order to cure the itching and burning sensation you can try a few natural remedies and treatments. Start with keeping the area dry and avoid washing it too often. After a dip in the pool; make sure that you wipe your entire body dry; the same goes for after a bath or a wash. You must also avoid wearing clothes that are very tight; these suffocate your skin and do not allow your pores to breathe. Lack of air can lead to the onset of the irritation. Keep the area clean. Avoid using too much water but use paper towels instead to clean the area.

If the itching and irritation has caused the skin to peel off then you must use Aloe Vera and tee tree oil on the area. This will help to cure the irritation and improves the growth of the skin in the area. You can also use oatmeal in the water that you use to bathe; it will help to clean the area.

Your diet must consist of plenty of fiber. This prevents constipation and ensures digestion. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are a good source of fiber.

You must wash your undergarments in mild soap and wash them separately from other clothes. Mild unscented soaps help to prevent irritation.
