Tips to Relieve a Sore Throat

A sore throat is common during the winter and summer months. It is common in winter because of the moisture in the air and in summer because we tend to drink cold water and eat cold foods that affect our throat. It is accompanied by cough, common cold and itching of the throat. It causes quiet an amount of pain and is irritating as it prevents you from speaking. While there are several medicines available to help you get out of this predicament, you must try a few of the remedies we mention here for immediate relief.

Gargling your mouth and throat with warm water and salt is a good option. The salt helps to ease the pain caused. Another simple method needs you to boil 2 cups of water with lemon juice, honey and sugar. Drink the mixture as hot as you can to avoid getting burnt by extremely hot water. The honey soothes your throat while the lemon helps to dissolve any mucus that may be in the respiratory passage.

Drink a spoonful of vinegar three times a day. The vinegar acts as a disinfectant that helps to soothe your throat and relieves pain.

Yet another remedy requires you to boil water and add a spoon of honey and a pinch of turmeric. You may add pepper powder if you like. Stir well and drink it piping hot. You are sure to be relieved within a few hours. Do this atleast 3 times a day, depending on how bad you are.

Use salt directly from the shaker and pour it into your mouth. The salt must touch the back of your tongue. Do not drink water or swallow your saliva. Let the salt dissolve in the back of your throat. You may feel a burning sensation. This is a sign that your throat is getting relieved.
