Toenails are mostly infected by a fungus group, which is popularly known as dematophytes. Toenail fungus is also called onychomycosis and it is known to be dangerous as it nourishes on the surface of the toenail that is made up of keratin.  It has been found that among the total adult population all over the world, about six to eight percent suffer from this condition.

At the early stages, this syndrome causes little discomfort and gradually it leads to the disfiguration, staining and yellowing or browning of the nails. Theinfected nails become uneven, coarse, crumbled and at times they even start to fall off. The affected nails can emit a foul smell and the ailment can cause uneasiness with the wearing of shoes. Bleach

Bleach has been used as one of the popular ways of treating the toenail fungus. It is thought as a better and a gentler way of dealing with toenail fungus. The nails are required to be trimmed as much as possible. The nails should also be filed down so as to make them thinner.

A diluted way of bleaching the nails is by mixing a teaspoon of bleach to one gallon of water and then soaking the affected feet into the water for about 15 minutes twice daily. Application of undiluted bleach on the toenail is hazardous and can damage the skin to a great extent.

Baking Soda

The baking soda is considered as an extremely valuable toenail remedy and it is even thought as miracle cure for this fungal infection. Make a paste of baking soda by mixing it with lukewarm water and apply it on to the affected nail. Keep the mixture on the nail for some time and then wash it off. The area has then to be dried.

Vinegar

Vinegar also helps to treat toenail fungus effectively. Fill up a bucket with lukewarm water and mix vinegar in an appropriate amount. The toes have to be soaked for about 20 minutes in the mixture. Take out the foot from the mixture after that and dry it up with a towel.
