Obesity can also result from the disturbances of the thyroid or pituitary glands. However, only about two percent of obesity cases are caused by glandular disorders.

A good treatment of obesity is fasting on lime juice-honey water. One teaspoon of fresh honey (natural honey and not synthetic) should be mixed with a lime juice that is prepared by using juice of half a lime in a glass of lukewarm water. This lime juice-honey water should be taken several times a day.

Lemon juice diet is also effective in reducing obesity. It is initiated by giving the patient nothing by plenty of water on the first day. The next day, the patient should be given only the juice of three lemons mixed with an equal amount of water. On the subsequent days, one lemon should be increased per day. The number of lemons should be increased till the juice of twelve lemons is consumed per day. From the twelfth day, the number of lemons should be decreased by one per day. This should be followed till the twentieth day. This 20 day cycle should be followed till the accumulation of fat in the body is reduced to the normal levels.

During the lemon juice diet, the patient might feel weak and hungry on the first two days. However, his condition will begin to stabilize four to five days into the diet. Do not continue the diet beyond the sixth day, if the patient becomes too weak and consult professional help.
