Treating Tonsillitis Through Naturopathy

Do you have throat pain and fever?  Is it difficult to swallow food?… You may be having tonsillitis. Tonsillitis is a common disease which causes  inflammation of the tonsils caused by viral or bacterial infection.

Sore throat and fever are the highlights of this disease. It is also accompanied by difficulty in swallowing food, loss of appetite, head ache, severe cold and cough.

Saying No To Antibiotics

If you are unwilling to take drugs for tonsillitis treatment, then you can turn to Naturopathy. This is a branch of alternative medicine that holds the idea of minimal use of drugs and surgery. In this system the self-healing power of human body and the natural ways to maintain health are given prime importance.

How To Treat Tonsillitis?

For the Tonsillitis treatment, Naturopathic physicians advocate fasting. Fasting is the method by which you stay away from some (rarely all) food and drinks until your body attains control over the disease.  In Naturopathic point of view, tonsillitis happens because of the unhealthy functioning of digestive system.

Once Tonsillitis affects your health, a change in diet plan should be done immediately. Avoid intake of fish, meat products, eggs, dairy products and junk foods. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetable salads. Start meditation to calm both your body and mind.

How To Start?

Avoid all food and drinks, except water. Give complete rest to your body. The place of your rest should have free air circulation and plenty of sunlight. To reduce throat pain, inhale steam for five minutes and repeat this for 4-5 times a day. Gargling of salted warm water will also give relief from pain. If you have fever and headache, apply wet packs to your chest, abdominal area and forehead.

You need to continue fasting until your body starts healing. If the symptoms subside completely, you can include fruit juices in your diet chart, for the next 2-3 days. Oranges, grapes, sweet lemon and pineapple that are rich in vitamin C and A would be ideal options and have it 4-5 times a day.

Slowly include fruits and raw vegetable salads in to your diet. After 2-3 days, introduce cooked food for lunch. You should follow the diet chart strictly, that now consists of fruit juices for breakfast, a balanced diet for lunch and sweet fruits for dinner. It will be better if you stick to this plan until you completely regain your health.
