Treatment Of Acne Using Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is one of the best natural treatments available for acne. Essential oils have antibacterial and antiseptic properties which can help in controlling acne to greater extent. It is also important to have basic understanding of acne to completely utilize the benefits of its aromatherapy.

Acne is a skin disease which is most common during teenage. Around more than 80% of adolescent suffers from it and continue to suffer till one reach adulthood. Occurrence of this problem reduces to large extend during adulthood. But some individuals keep suffering from it even in their thirties and forties. This disease mainly affects the areas around face and neck. But chest, back and shoulders are also found to be affected by it. Acne not only gives physical scars to people but it also affects them psychologically. People with acne have very low self-esteem.

It has been found that aromatherapy is a natural and good remedy for controlling acne with some simple precautions. Not all essential oils are useful for acne treatment. Therefore it is necessary to know which essential oils are good for acne. Essential oils should not be used in almost pure form. They should be first mixed with some carrier oil before applying on the skin. These safety measures give more effective treatment for acne.

Of all the known essential oils, tea tree oil is one of the best for acne remedy.  Some of the recommended essential oils for acne control are Cedar wood, Jasmine, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Geranium and Grapefruit etc. A daily massage with these essential oils will help cleanse and soothe your skin. Various aromatherapy recipes are available for acne.

These recipes are very easy and can be easily prepared at home. Mix tea tree oil with aloe vera gel in the ratio of five per cent tea tree oil to ninety five percent aloe vera gel. Apply this solution to clean skin. Mix the following quantities of essential oils such as 5 drops Geranium, 7 drops Lavender, 7 drops Atlas Cedar wood 12 drops Tea Tree and 1/4 ounce Jojoba oil. Use it directly to acne spots. Always keep in mind that acne therapies take time to work, whether they are prescribed drugs by the doctor or aromatherapy remedies. Always perform aromatherapy for acne with professional help for best results.

    It’s funny, I used tea tree oil for acne from teh bodyshop when I was in my teens. Felt damn good.
