Losing weight for some people is quite an easy task while for others it is a challenge. For a long time now people have been trying various things to help them control their weight or shed the few extra pounds that they have managed to put on.

As someone who has been able to achieve his or her goal of losing weight and they would swear that there is no substitute for hard work, regular exercise, dedication and a strong will to achieve their goal. This task of losing weight is difficult for a person who has a low metabolism and most people who are over weight tend to have very low metabolism. The right combination of exercise and a healthy diet can however be used to help a person jump start their low metabolism and shed those extra pounds quickly and in an inexpensive manner.

As stated earlier losing weight is not for the faint hearted it requires a lot of dedication and perseverance and you need to want to lose weight to be able to do it. The first step is to condition your mind and focus on your goal. Draw out a plan and set targets for your self that you think that you will be able to achieve. Visit a dietician and get yourself checked. Try and figure out your eating habits as this would also help in a big way to lose weight. If you tend to eat when you are bored or have nothing to do then its one of the quickest ways for you to lose control of your weight. Don’t cut down on how much you eat all at once instead try to eat smaller meals and space them out every few hours.

Your meals should also be high in protein and fiber content as the protein helps to burn sugars while the fiber would help prevent glucose from being absorbed into the blood stream. Do not under any circumstance skip breakfast. Remember it’s the most important meal of the day and should include whole grains, fruit and eggs. Another point to remember while eating is to have your meals slowly and not rush through it. Concentrate on your food and enjoy it.

Cardio exercises 2-3 times a week should be a must. While running is good you don’t need to be over exerting yourself on a treadmill for an hour. Keep your exercises simple. Skipping rope, swimming, cycling and even a brisk walk are some great way to help get your metabolism up.
