Tricks on How to Stay Active and Healthy In Winter
Exercise seems to be the last thing on your mind during the cold dark winter season and added to that the fact that the holiday season is upon us makes it even worse. The amount of calories that you stand to gain from holiday food and lack of exercise can not only make you lethargic it can also make you fat. There are several tips to stay active even in this season- all you need is some creativity.
One of the easiest ways to exercise is to walk around the house. You can walk when you are doing chores like vacuuming or mopping the floor. You can also walk when you talk on the phone. This is a good way to kill a few calories daily.
Another way to get some exercise is to workout during television commercials. A few push ups, sit ups or jumping jacks are a great way to ensure that you get approximately 19 minutes of exercise every hour; that makes it close to an hour workout for every 3 hours of television.
One easy way to exercise is to shovel snow. This activity is sure to get your heart pounding but it is also dangerous and you must make sure that you take all necessary precautions. The exercise will help you to cut down on a few calories and also help to cut down on flab and tone your body. Limiting your television and computer time is a good idea. You can try and take a walk instead and enjoy the frozen nature. The best time to take a walk is during mid day when the temperature is warmer. Make sure you are walking in familiar territory and avoid walking in the evening when it is dark. Build a snow man with the family or try ice skating. Be careful about the activity that you choose as it can be fun yet dangerous.
