Millions of individuals all over the globe are dealing with Type 1 diabetes. Diabetes is broadly classified under two heads: Type 1 and Type 2.

There is another type of diabetes which is also known as gestational diabetes and it occurs mostly to the pregnant ladies. The exact cause of type 1 diabetes is still unknown but this type of diabetes occurs mostly among the children and the young adolescents. Feeling of tiredness, increased tendency towards nausea, feeling thirsty, blurred vision, feeling hungry, sudden loss of weight without any reason, muscle cramps, tingling in both hands, recurrent urination etc are some of the symptoms of type 1 diabetes. But Type 1 diabetes can be treated successfully with the help of diet.

Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is one of the best ways to control the level of blood sugar among the individuals. The diet that is usually prescribed for the individuals suffering from type 1 diabetes is in fact healthy for all of us.

The diet for the sufferer needs to be low in sugar, salt, carbohydrates as well as fat. While fatty food lowers down the digestion rate thereby raising the level of cholesterol, the food that have carbohydrates in them can turn into sugar and deteriorate the state of the individuals. Hence, these kinds of foods are strictly prohibited. On the contrary, a huge amount of complex carbohydrates like cereals, pasta, whole-grain breads, vegetables and fruits should be included in the diet regime.

Again the portion size of the foodstuffs needs to be controlled while eating in order to maintain a healthy weight. The ones suffering from the ailment must make sure that they do not skip breakfast. The protein must be consumed in the right quantity. With the intake of too much protein, the excess protein that is not required by the body is changed into glucose by the liver.

Hence diet plays a pivotal role for the treating and curing of the ailment.
