Urinary tract infection or UTI is the urine that has bacteria in it. These are the infections in bladder, kidneys, ureters (the tubes that bring urine from the kidney to the bladder) and urethra (tube that takes urine from the bladder to the exterior of the body). The most general type of UTI is the bladder infection. There are other types of UTIs like the kidney infection and the infections of the urethra. A burning sensation is felt when one pees. UTI is very common in times of pregnancy and the rate is as high as 1 out of 10 has UTI during that period.
Home remedies to urinary tract infection:
Cranberry juice: Until the recent times, cranberry juice is the most effective and popular home remedy for treating the disease. It can cure the urinary tract infection in more than one way. It is by far the best natural way of preventing the disease in the urinary tract as well as speeding up the recovery of the disease.
One must intake six to eight ounces of pure cranberry juice per day is enough to deal with the illness. One must be sure to intake only pure cranberry juice and not cocktails as they contain insufficient amount of this juice in the mixture.
Vitamin-C supplements: Vitamin-C supplements are a useful way of dealing with the infection. When these supplements are consumed, the level of acidity in the urine automatically increases which, in turn, decreases the number of bacteria in the urine. Hence intake of vitamin-C supplements is a way of self-treating the disease.
Drinking water: Intake of plenty of water is a must to prevent the infection. Water is a useful way of flushing the systems. Hence, one must always have enough water to deal with the disease.
Bathing: Shower is the best way of bathing as tub baths too can result the bacteria to travel upwards through the urethra to cause infection.
Urinate: One must make sure that she pee’s whenever she feels the urge to urinate and must not hold back the urine. Holding back gives the bacteria enough time to breed and cause infection. Hence one must urinate as and when required in order to keep the bladder empty and help the system to be kept clean.
Loose fitting clothes: One must always wear loose fitting cotton clothes in order to help pass the air in the body and to feel comfortable. Cotton clothes allows passing of air, which can restrict infection while synthetic clothes restricts the passage of air thereby creating a breeding ground for urinary tract infection.
