Some teens fight obesity. This condition is caused due to poor eating habits during early childhood. If a child is given fatty food and fast foods the child may suffer from obesity during the teen years. If a teen chooses to diet to loose weight care must be taken to make the right changes in the diet and avoid any change in nutritional value of ones diet. Unfortunately some teens are obsessed with dieting and loosing weight so that they can emulate their favorite Hollywood icons. This is dangerous as any dietary changes in a teens diet could have a direct impact on a growth and hormonal balance.

Teens must be made aware of the fact that they cannot loose weight in a short span if time. Weight loss is a gradual process and loosing weight slowly is the best way to deal with obesity. Setting realistic goals with time lines will help to win the battle with obesity.

Dieting and crash diets are a fad and they must be avoided. Analyze your diet to understand what unhealthy foods are in your diet and eliminate them. Eat foods that are rich in nutrition. Those that are high in fats and carbohydrates must be avoided. A diet that comprises of fresh fruits, vegetables, juices and water will promote weight loss.

Refined sugars add empty calories to your diet and hence they must be avoided. Foods that are rich in sugar include cereals, cookies, pastries, cookies and white bread. Avoid using sugar as a sweetener. Honey is a better alternative.

Teens need to avoid focusing on diets and divert their attention towards exercising. Following a strict exercise regime will ensure that you are able to shed excess weight.

Exercise for a few minutes everyday. Walking and jogging are the best forms of exercise. Alternatively you could also opt for swimming or hiking occasionally. Aerobics and yoga also promote health and prevent excess weight gain in teens. Exercising helps to burn excess fats on a daily basis; this is the best way to ensure that you are slim and fit.
