Every thing that we do impacts our lives in some way or the other. Just like the law that states ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’, it applies to our health as well. The food that we eat, our laziness and negligence leads to cavities, tooth discoloration, gum diseases and even loss of a tooth. I know of people who don’t even brush their teeth once a day; let alone doing it twice.
Maintaining your oral hygiene will take you a long way. Not only does it ensure that you have sparkly white teeth it also makes sure that you do not suffer from any other diseases. You need to make it a habit to brush your teeth twice a day; this ensures that you get rid of the germs in the morning and all the food particles that get stuck in your teeth during the day when you brush at night. No matter what toothpaste you use you need to brush your teeth regularly. Rinsing your mouth occasionally and whenever you eat or drink anything will help to prevent cavities and tooth decay.
Other factors that are not good for your teeth are beverages. Hot or cold beverages can lead to discoloration. Coffee, wine, sodas lead to staining your teeth and leaving spots on them. In order to prevent this you need to limit your consumption of these drinks and even stop them if possible. An alternative to drinking these beverages if you are not able to resist them is to use a straw.
Smoking is another dental killer. It leads to tooth decay, discoloration and spots on the tooth enamel. If you are one of those smokers who cannot give up cigarettes then you need to speak with your dentist about a specific dental care regime that will help you to prevent tooth decay and loss of tooth enamel.
In this manner, proper dental hygiene can be maintained by regular brushing and cleansing. You must also ensure that you kick all bad habits. Changing your toothpaste and brush regularly will help as well.
