It is a myth that protein should be avoided and as in truth proteins are an exceptional source of amino acids which help in the generation of new proteins that are required by the body and the muscular system. Obtaining proteins though is not an easy task and care should be taken that it is not over consumed as this leads to other unfavorable problems.

The intake of protein should be part of our everyday diet and this can be easily achieved by the consumption of foods such as nuts, eggs, poultry, dairy products, seeds and legumes. Proteins that are present in foods are of two types complete and incomplete. Protiens coming from meat, fish, poultry and non-vegetarian sources tend to be complete in nature and are easily absorbed by the body.

Proteins coming from vegetables, grains, seed etc tend to be incomplete in nature and need to be further broken down by the body so that they can be absorbed by it. People who are non vegetarian in their dietary habits could opt for these foods while vegetarians could opt for the ones suggested, however whatever the case maybe vegetarian or non-vegetarian the effect that protein has on the body is the same no matter what source it is derived from therefore in order to get the required amount people should eat foods high in protein content.

Foods such as soy bean and soy based foods are also rich and high in protein content and could be consumed in moderation. When foods rich in protein are consumed by the body it is broken down into amino acids which is then recycled and converted back into proteins which is required by the body for the muscles, bones and other organs. Now one may ask how much proteins do I need?

On an average kids should have about half a gram of protein for each pound of body weight therefore if body weight was about 20 pounds then the math would be 20*0.5grams= 10 grams of protein. An adult however would require anywhere between 50 to 70 grams of protein a day depending on the body type and daily routine. Excessive intake should be avoided as this could lead to build up of fats and lead to other complication like heart attacks or other cardiovascular conditions.
