If you are already aware of the fact that your summer and winter skin care routines need to differ then you are wise and already on the way to healthy winter skin.
In order to balance out the cold temperatures outdoors and the warm temperatures indoors you need to start with regulating the temperature at home to make sure that the difference is not too high.
This ensures that your skin is able to deal with the difference in the temperature; it does not go from too cold when outdoors to too hot when indoors. You also need to avoid taking hot showers; keep the water warm not hot. Use a moisturizing soap or liquid moisturizing soap during bath time; this ensures that your skin is well cared for during the winter months; it also exfoliates the dead skin on your body.
Use a humidifier in your room. Winter air is still and dry and a humidifier in your room will help to increase the moisture levels drastically. This will ensure that when you sleep at night your skin absorbs the moisture from the air.
Avoid cold blasts of air in your skin. Cover up as much as you can; this includes hands and knees. Forget about fashion for this season and keep your health as a first priority. The skin on your palms and feet may begin to show signs of cracking. In order to deal with this you must use petroleum jelly on your palms and feet at night and cover tem with socks and gloves. You will reveal fresh soft and beautiful limbs in the morning.
Use a chap stick on your lips to prevent them from getting dry and chapped. There are several fruit flavored ones that you can avail of so you need not worry about lack of choice. Women can also use a moisturizing lipstick and gloss. At night use a thick layer of cream on your lips. When you are at home you may use clarified butter or butter on your skin and lips.
