Acne on sensitive skin is very difficult to treat because not only there is a wide array of treatments available in the market right from over the counter treatments to laser therapy to treat acne but which one would work well for those with sensitive skin is difficult to know.
If at all you use something that causes reaction with your skin! You are in double trouble and that is why to treat sensitive skin with Acne is very complicated.
Make it a point to wash your face with oil free soap twice a day (more than that would dry the skin aggravating the formation of acne).Don’t use each and every product available over the counter for treating acne. Most of these products contain Benzoyl peroxide, which makes your skin even more sensitive to the harmful UV rays.
You must avoid products, which use Alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy acid as they too are very harsh on the skin. Look out for products with salicylic acid or glycolic acid. They are very effective on sensitive skin and do not damage the skin. They gently exfoliate the skin.
For every new product that you get, it is essential to first have a skin test – apply a little bit of the product under your earlobe and put a band-aid over it. Let it be for a few days or use some on the insides of your arm; if it irritates you a lot more than you expected or if you get rashes – DO NOT USE THAT PRODUCT!
Avoid using make up and if you do, look for products that are hypoallergenic and do not have any fragrance. Use a cleanser made with castile soaps, which soothe the skin and is also gentle on the skin. These soaps are made with vegetable oils and have moisturizing properties which work well on such skin.
You could also try some Acne treatments at home like a mask prepared of oatmeal or baking soda. You could also use scraped potato on the affected area – it soothes the skin. Lime juice and rose water are also miracle remedies.Lastly, remember never to pinch those horrible looking acne as that would push the oils back into the skin causing more outbreaks.
