Avoiding Being Overweight

Overweight and obesity are the problems that are being nourished day by day. A person is overweight if he or she is eating more than his or her body requires. BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is used to calculate how healthy a person is. The value of BMI for an average body should be between 18.5 and 24.9. A person having BMI more than 30 is considered obese.

Your diet plan should be healthy and it should not affect your body negatively. You should eat a lot of fibrous foods like vegetables and fruits, because fibrous foods fill your stomach fast.

So, it will help you to eat a little less. Also, try and avoid chocolate, cakes, biscuits, heavy puddings, soft drinks, pies, jams, etc. Control the intake of your calories. Try having low-calorie foods. But do keep in mind there is a certain amount of calorie intake required for our body.

Instead of having three big meals, it is essential to divide them in five to six meals a day as this will also help in losing weight. The most important thing is to never skip your meals. Always choose fresh food over processed food. This is because fresh foods are easily digestible.  Also avoid drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.

Have a lot of water during the whole day as it fills your stomach. Plus water contains no calories, so have around eight to ten glasses of water. It also keeps your body hydrated, increases your metabolism and digestion. Water will help a lot in losing weight.

Avoid fried foods. Try cooking your food in a healthy way, like boiling, roasting, etc. always chew your food properly as it helps in digestion. Exercise regularly. Go for a walk for fifteen minutes everyday.

There are a lot of diseases that can be caused by being overweight. Some of them are – Cancer, Gallstones, Osteoarthritis, Diabetes, etc. Sleep Apnea is also one of the problems caused by being overweight.

In this the breathing of the person stops for a short period of time during sleeps. It can lead to heart failure and daytime sleepiness. In osteoarthritis joints of knees, hips and lower back start paining.

It is easy to stay fit and not be overweight. Just concentrate on your diet and have healthy low-calories food combined with some form of exercise.
