Diet To Fight Arthritis

Arthritis is basically a disease that affects the joints. There are several types of arthritis and it is good to know that certain types of arthritis can be cured by following a strict diet. It is important to maintain the diet prescribed by your medical practitioner even though it may seem difficult. In case you do not follow the prescribed diet it is possible that the condition worsens and you find minimal improvement.

There are certain foods that stimulate arthritic pain like caffeinated drinks, additives, salt, chocolates, certain vegetables, red meat, and some dairy products. It is important to notice whether any foods that you eat triggers any kind of pain and you may need to avoid eating it for some time. It is good to reduce or completely eliminate white sugars and white carbohydrates like white bread, pasta, white rice, cakes etc.

It is always good to consume complex carbohydrates like whole grain foods. One needs to avoid fatty meats as this will further aggravate arthritis. Instead you need to replace it with either lean meats or fatty fish. Cigarettes should be completely avoided.

When you are diagnosed with arthritis it is good to add a lot of fruits and vegetable to your diet. Greens and green vegetables are especially good to fight arthritis. In case you can get organic vegetables, you better opt for those as they are the best since they are non acidic and do not contain any additives. Though there is a myth that lemons are not good, lemons are actually really good for arthritis.

You can drink fresh lime juice avoid any drinks with sodium, carbonated drinks are fine. Fish, nuts seeds and whole grains are especially good to fight arthritis. Salmon, Trout, mackerel, sardines halibut and herring help reduce joint pain. Oily fish like salmon, tuna, sardines and cod liver oil are also very good to improve arthritic pain.

It is important to drink a lot of water so that toxins are flushed out of the body. It is important to avoid foods that increase acid like rich fatty foods, saturated food and all kind of fried foods. Foods high in acid content like spinach, plums, cranberries etc also should be avoided.
