There are many kinds of precautions that should be taken by the pregnant lady, for sound delivery of the baby. Let us here discuss about some of the dietary precautions that should be taken by a woman during her pregnancy.

First of all, the pregnant lady should make sure to eat a healthy and nutritious diet, enriched with all the essential minerals and vitamins. Fresh fruits and green vegetables are enriched with all the vital nutrients for sound health of both baby and mother.

Junk foods should be avoided and healthy foods should be included in the diet, so that the health of both baby and mother is maintained.

Make sure to wash all the raw vegetables properly before consuming them. This would help in maintaining proper hygiene.

There are many women who think of consuming herbs during pregnancy, as against medicines prescribed by the doctor. It is very important for the pregnant lady to seek the advice of the medical practitioner to ensure the suitability of consuming herbs.

There are some herbs which are harmful for both the baby and mother, and should be therefore avoided during pregnancy. These include goldenseal, penny royal, juniper, lady’s mantle, black cohosh and blue cohosh. These herbs are very well known for stimulating the uterus, thus leading to miscarriage or premature contractions.

Pregnant women should make sure to eat five to six small meals in a day, as compared to three big meals in a day. This would help in keeping them healthy and would help in preventing them from the problems of nausea and morning sickness during pregnancy.

By taking care of the above given dietary precautions, you would be able to live a healthy pregnancy and give delivery to a healthy baby.
