Many people are under the wrong impression that doing 500 to 1000 stomach crunches everyday will help them lose fat around their bellies and give them a six pack. Doing stomach crunches and sit-ups does not give you a six-pack.
We are all born with abs muscles. Only those of us who have lost fat from around the belly are able to show-off their abs muscles. The rest of us have to begin with first losing the tummy flab and then slowly work towards showing the abs. If you have fat around your abdomen it means that you need to lose overall body fat.
There is no such thing as spot reduction. And doing crunches and sit-ups will not help you burn the fat effectively. To lose fat first you will have to do a combination of cardiovascular exercises and weight training. Eating a healthy diet will also be important to help burn fat and keep it away. Running, swimming and cycling are the best forms of high intensity exercises that will burn calories for you. I want to do this!

Incorporate salads, lean meats, nuts, fresh vegetables and fruits in your daily diet. Eat protein rich diets that will help you remain full longer thus cutting on your binging habit. Steamed vegetables without sauces and with little salt are great way to keep your hunger satiated for a long time. Fresh vegetables are low in calories but high in fiber content.
Exercise for 60 minutes daily. Start with cardio exercises. They help burn fat and keep the metabolic system running smoothly. Doing cardio everyday will not tire you out but keep you active throughout the day. Once you start losing the fat from your abdominal area you can take to doing exercises specifically targeted at improving your abs muscles. Don’t forget to exercise your upper as well as lower abs.
There are many good abs exercises. You can choose from the full vertical crunch, the long arm crunch, the abs rocker and the reverse crunch.
