Know About Some Iodine Supplements

Iodine is extremely important for the growth and development of our body. It helps enhance metabolism and aids in the overall development of the tissues and bones in the body.

Iodine is also responsible for helping in the development of the nervous system in fetuses. Given the usefulness of this substance, it is hardly surprising that regular intake of iodine is an absolute necessity.

Whilst iodine is present in several natural substances, most people prefer iodine supplements, which are both easy to consume and monitor. Following are some of the common supplements available in the market today.

Nascent Iodine

This is a supplement that is the closest in form to the iodine produced in the body by the thyroid glands. Of all the iodine supplements available today, this is electromagnetically charged in form and extremely easy for the body to recognize and assimilate. In comparison with other forms of iodine available today, this releases more energy.

Nano-Colloidal Detoxified Iodine

This is one of the best as well as non toxic forms of iodine available in the market, which again is easily assimilated by the body. This supplement contains crystallized forms of USP iodine, which is processed so that they become nascent and nano-colloidalized.

When in the body, these nascent crystals transform into carrier iodides, which are then changed into elemental iodine. Elemental iodine mixes with the proteins in the body to increase the resistance of the immune system.

Lugol’s Solution

In terms of easily available iodine supplements, this one rules the roost for stalling unwanted hormonal excretions. Moreover, this supplement is an excellent aid for enhancing the secretions of the respiratory tract while reducing thyroxine secretions. It is important to note that every drop of this solution contains 6.3 mg of molecular iodine.

Potassium Iodide

These iodine supplements are readily available in the market as tablets, containing 0.23 to 130 mg of iodine in their composition. They are excellent for preventing thyroid cancer as they block the excessive intake of radio iodine by the thyroid gland.

While these are the common iodine supplements available today, it is important to ensure that their intake is according to medical limits and not more than that. Whilst these are beneficial when taken in small doses, they could cause problems of their own when you consume more than your normal dose.
