Team Weight Loss: Group Effort Benefits

It has been proven that teaming up with other health-conscious people to lose weight brings significant benefits for all involved.

Dieting has seemed to be a dilemma for overweight people – even those who only have a few extra pounds-over the years. Too often people on a diet lose a few pounds and a year or two after that they regain the weight and also add an extra one or two.

Researchers have found that group dieting can be an effective way to lose weight and keep it off. Groups like Weight Watchers or Physicians Weight Loss Centers have become very popular amongst people who are seeking to lose weight. However, their cost and limited fare makes these programs favor a few only.

But there are types of groups where you enjoy a free pass: family dieting groups, neighbors or coworkers dieting groups, groups of people that share common goals and give each other encouragement. It has been reported that around 100% of the members of such groups have been able to lose some weight and others have even managed to lose between 10 to 20 pounds.

If you are considering becoming a part of such groups, here are a few tips you should bear in mind:

1.  Be sure to be part of a group of friends you can trust. You will be reporting your weight weekly; one person within the group can keep record of that and make it confidential. You would also like to be able to count on your friends to take the losing weight issue seriously and to provide encouragement and be inspirational by discussing and promoting exercise routines and keeping a healthy food plan.

2. Take a low profile attitude. This means that you may joke occasionally when things are not going as smoothly as you desire and share recipes and ideas with other members. Be happy about knowing that your friends have also lost weight during the process.

Dieting groups can be lot of fun and rewarding. You do not need to be overweight to be part of one. You can start one and have your friends join so as to keep control over healthy meals and exercising.
