The Evident Signs Of Appendicitis To Watch Out For
Appendicitis is a common condition which is characterized by the swelling and inflammation of the appendix. The appendix is a small finger like organ that forms a part of the human digestive system.
Appendicitis can occur when the inner regions of the appendix get blocked by stools or by foreign bodies. This in turn leads to the accumulation of mucus in the appendix, thereby leading to inflammation and infections.
Inflammation of the appendix can be a cause of severe discomfort. In order to tackle this painful the condition, surgical removal of the appendix is usually performed.

However, if the condition is not treated within 24 hours, then the appendix may burst open, thereby spreading the infection to nearby abdominal organs. Therefore, it becomes absolutely necessary for one to correctly identify the signs and symptoms of appendicitis, so that proper and timely treatment of the condition can be carried out.
The Evident Signs Of Appendicitis To Watch Out For
Abdominal Pain
One of the earliest signs of appendicitis is the development of pain in the abdominal region. The pain will be initially felt at the region of the belly button and with time it will migrate to the region of the lower right abdomen.
The muscles at this region of the abdomen will become tense and rigid. The abdominal pain will increase in intensity over a period of 6 to 10 hours. The pain will be mild initially and can become severe at any moment.

Activities like sneezing, sudden and unexpected movements and coughing will lead to sudden increase in this pain. To get relief from abdominal pain, you can lie on one side and then draw your knees towards the chest.
However, pregnant women who suffer from appendicitis do not exhibit this classic symptom. These women will experience pain in places other than the lower right side of the abdomen. This is due to the displacement of the appendix from its usual site by the growing uterus.
Rebound Tenderness
Rebound tenderness is another warning sign of appendicitis. Here, one will experience severe pain on pushing the region of the lower abdomen and then slowly releasing the pressure in the region.
Nausea
With the increase in infection of the appendicitis, one will start to experience severe nausea. The affected person will also vomit once or twice within a period of an hour. This condition is usually seen to precede abdominal pain. The condition of nausea will also be accompanied by a loss of appetite.

The stools passed will also have large quantities of mucus in it. One may also experience difficult in passing gas, thus bringing about a feeling of bloating. If you experience the above said symptoms, then do visit your physician immediately.

At the same time, do not try to curb the pain by taking painkillers and do not eat or drink, as these activities can lead to the immediate bursting of the inflamed appendix.
