Yoga Poses for hip pain
It is the most profound style of yoga which is being practised to reduce any type of pain. Hatha yoga poses are efficient enough to cure hip pain as they involve excessive breathing thus reduce stress and stretches help in reducing the severe hip pain in the body.
Some of the common poses involved in Hatha yoga which are very helpful in reducing hip pain are Bala Asana ( Child Pose), Shava Asana( Corpse Pose) and Vriksha Asana ( Tree pose). In Child pose we lie on our back and bring the knees towards our chest . Now holding your toes stretch the legs up in the air and remember the legs should be kept straight in the air.
If not possible slightly bend them at knees but the feet should be straight towards the wall .Hold this pose for 5-7 breaths and then return back to the normal position. In Corpse pose lie on the floor straight and keep both the arms by your side and the palms facing upwards.Feet should be straight towards the wall and close your eyes and do deep breathing so that you can feel the air going in and out of your lungs. As this pose suggests you have to lie just like a dead corpse on the floor and repeat it 5 times initially.
Many physiotherapists also use this technique to reduce hip pains as it is the efficient way to counter the pain. Bikram Yoga is commonly called “Hot Yoga” because in this case the stretching and flexibility workouts of yoga are done in a room which is hot.Mainly the room temperature in case of Hot yoga is kept at 38 to 45 degrees centigrade. The main logic behind increasing the temperature is to heat the muscles and ligaments around the joints so that they can be stretched with ease.
There are some other Yoga poses too which can be done to stretch and open the hip joints like Prayer squat is an excellent standing pose which can be done to stretch and open our hip joints, stand with your feet shoulder length apart and now go downwards in a squatting position and bring your hips below the level of your knees.
Keep the heels on the floor and bring both the hands in namaskar pose in front of your chest. Stay in this position for 5 seconds and return back to normal position. You can also do Tortoise pose, Garland pose, Bound angle pose or Balancing Bound angle pose. All these poses will help in making the hop muscles stronger and flexible thus reducing the stress around the hip joint and easing out all the hip pain.
