Citrus fruits are very acidic and tend to have the same reaction when eaten. So citrus food should be avoided for acid reflux.

Caffeine and chocolate are foods that you should avoid for acid reflux. Both of these foods can relax the lower esophageal sphincter and cause the stomach contents to flow into the esophagus. If you suffer from only the occasional acid reflux outbreak you may not react to these foods. However, if you have chronic acid reflux these are food you should definitely avoid.



Full fat dairy products, sweets and tomato based products are also foods to avoid for acid reflux. Especially if you have chronic acid reflux. So, if you want to get rid of your acid reflux for good, avoid all these foods. If you decide to eat them, you better make sure you have some form of relief on hand because you’re going to need it.
