Hair Loss Diet

Proper diet to Prevent Hair Loss:

Nutritional deficiencies are one of the major causes of general hair loss. Nutritional deficiency leads to weakening of hair shaft which cause damage and breakage of the hairs. It also reduces the re-growth of hairs. This type of hair loss can be corrected by taking proper balanced diet.

Nutrients required Treating Hair Loss:

There are number of nutrients which are essential for hair development. These nutrients include vitamin A, some of the B group of vitamins, vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron, zinc, copper, protein, biotin and water.

Vitamin A is very essential for growth and development of the body cells including cells of scalp and hairs. Any lack of vitamin A for longer periods may cause the built up of debris around hair follicles which leads to dandruff and hair fall.

Vitamin A is obtained in two forms. Carotenoids obtained from plant sources like red, yellow, orange fruits and dark green leafy vegetables. Beta carotenes convert to vitamin A in body. From animal sources, vitamin A is found in the form of retinols and can be obtained from fish oil, liver, fortified milk and eggs.

Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and folic acid are essential for the health of hairs. Lack of vitamin B cause lack of oxygen and blood supply to the hairs and it leads to substantial hair loss, hair damage and reduced re-growth. Protein-rich foods are good source of vitamin B6 and include chicken soybeans, fish, pork, cereals, whole grains, nuts, legumes and many more. Milk, meat, fish, eggs and other dairy foods are the best source of vitamin B12.Folic acid may be obtained from leafy vegetables, orange, wheat germ and beet.

Though biotin is manufactured inside our body and there are many food sources of biotin. Its deficiency is rare but in case of biotin deficiency, there is serious hair loss.

Vitamin E is essential for vigorous growth of hair and protection of hairs. It can be obtained from olive oil, almonds, avocados and nuts. Eat potatoes, cucumber to get silica. Zinc is a mineral which is vital for the hair growth, repair of hair tissues and reproduction hair cells. This can be obtained from seafood, carrots, spinach, walnut seeds, and pumpkin seeds.

Also you should drink plenty of water to keep the hairs moist and hydrated to prevent dryness. It helps keep the hairs glowing.
