people are quite embarrassed and consternated with foot odor. This common problem is caused by excessive perspiration. The moisture and warmth provide a perfect breeding ground for bacteria to thrive and flourish.
The bacteria give off a foul and offensive odor which becomes the bane of hygiene and cleanliness. There are innumerable sweat glands in each foot which produce a lot of sweat. This sweat combines with the bacteria which are naturally present on our skin as part of the human flora and produces bad smelling substances which cause foot odor.
If you are using socks and shoes made of polyester or nylon which do not absorb the sweat and provide no ventilation and keep the moisture trapped in between the toes, you are most likely to suffer from foot odor.

Black tea has innumerable healing and curing powers. The tannins found in black tea have superb antibacterial properties. They are also full of astringent properties that inhibit the activity of the sweat glands and eliminate the bad smell. Put to boil one litre of water and add five heaped teaspoons of black tea to it. Boil for five minutes and cool the tea. Soak your feet in this solution for half an everyday.
Baking soda has wide and varied uses. It is very useful for eliminating foot odor. It curbs the activity of the bacteria and the sweat glands and maintains the pH balance on the skin. Put some warm water into a foot bath. Add two heaped tablespoons of baking soda to it. Soak your feet in this solution for half an hour. Fill a foot bath with warm water. Add two tablespoons of Epsom salt to it and soak your feet in this solution for half an hour, twice daily. The magnesium sulfate present in Epsom salt draws out all the toxins from the skin, relaxes the sweat glands and annihilates the bacteria. Regular use, for a month or two, will eliminate your problem of foot odor. You will no longer feel embarrassed, the moment you draw your feet out of your shoes.
Mix some cornstarch and sandalwood powder together. After your bath, dry your feet thoroughly and before wearing your socks, sprinkle the mixture of cornstarch and sandalwood powder, liberally in between the toes, on your soles and on your feet. You should take care to use cotton socks only. Your feet will remain dry and sweet smelling throughout the day.
Sage has a nice aroma and is very effective in reducing foot odor. Take some dried sage leaves and grind them to a fine powder. Sprinkle the powder inside your shoes. Before wearing your socks sprinkle some of the sage powder between your toes too. Sage will absorb the foul smell and leave behind a pleasant smell. You can also soak your feet in some sage tea for half an hour daily, to reduce the sweat.
